Following Ben Bolch’s article, published immediately after the UCLA Bruins’ final game last year—which offered early insight into offseason decisions—it may be worthwhile to take a closer look at this year’s outlook.

Last year, Eric Dailey Jr. and Skyy Clark both indicated right after the game that they intended to return. In Aday Mara was noncommittal, noting he needed time to evaluate what was best for his future. This year, Trent Perry has taken a similarly noncommittal stance. Clark expressed interest in returning, though his eligibility remains a question. It does not appear that Bolch asked Dailey or other players this year, or at least he did not report on their responses.

For context, Perry was also noncommittal last year. However, reports indicated that UCLA extended a financial offer quickly, and he soon confirmed his return via Instagram. Notably, social media proved to be one of the earliest and most reliable sources of information, particularly as players who intended to leave began distancing themselves from UCLA affiliations.

If past patterns hold, monitoring social media activity may again provide the first indication of whether Perry plans to return or explore other opportunities.
