First off, it would depend on my son and what he wanted and who he was.

If he wanted to be coached by Cronin and I thought, because of his personality he wouldn't react well to his harshness, I might advise him to go elsewhere.

If he wanted to go and I thought he was strong enough for tough coaching and would benefit from it I might advise him to go.

If he wasn't sure where to go and Cronin was on his list and I thought he could with stand and benefit from tough coaching I might advise him to consider Cronin.

As a father I would want what was best for my child and would act accordingly. As an ex-player and coach I recognized what a player can benefit from a coach like Cronin. Cronin is not the only one who I think of as good developmental coaches who can build a player from the ground up so to speak, but he would definitely be on my list. I don't think all players are right for Cronin and vice versa, but if everything lined up positively for my son and Cronin was his choice I wouldn't hesitate to endorse that move.
