The bottom line is really just a question: 8 years into this man’s tenure with UCLA, is this really where you want to see the program? This season was supposed to be an improvement upon last. It’s Bilodeau’s and Clark’s senior season, and we’ve invested considerable resources in these guys as the cornerstones of the program (Dent too, who Cronin has failed to connect with and develop).
So here we are, in late February, uncertain whether we will even make the NCAA tournament, with our coach having to initiate an apology tour because he doesn’t know how to act professionally in his role. Worse than that, Cronin’s behavior sends a damning message to 2027 recruits and their families, at a time when our recruiting has faltered.
His apology today was embarrassing and hard to listen to. It felt like his wife or someone else in his inner circle made him to do this. It did not feel sincere at all.
Anyway, he needs to be fired. Enough is enough.
UCLA deserves better.
