I have heard that people in the local recruiting circles find him abrasive, and that is why he is having no success recruiting local high school players. The big question is whether the players he is trying to bring in want to play for him.

The world is different today, and money is a bigger factor, but if he cannot bring in players, his tenure is doomed.

I am not saying that is the case right now.

And Cronin is hardly the only coach who can be difficult. There are players who want to be coached hard. It is said that Kingston Fleming went to Houston because he knew Kelvin Sampson would be hard on him.

Barring a total meltdown at the end of the season, I expect Cronin to be our coach next year. I think his ability to bring in talent during the offseason will tell us a lot.
