seem to like him. He's tough. He's demanding. But, from everything I'm hearing he is really a "softie" when one gets to know him. He has a good retention record. The only player who has left that he wanted to retain seems to be Mara.
No one coach is going to have universal or even close to universal appeal. Cronin is old school. Perhaps that doesn't appeal to most young people, but it does appeal to some. Basketball, like many things, is about relationships. Recruiting I find to be an emotional experience. Kids have a "feeling" about someone or some place and then try to find reasons to articulate their choice. At least in my limited experience with recruiting that's what I've seen. It's very much like buying a car. Once you've determined your parameters and needs of a vehicle there are usually many makes and models that will satisfy those things. Then the choice usually comes down to some sort of emotional tied reason.
