ESPN gives our MBB team a 36.9% chabce of beating Purdue MBB tonight. They give our WBB team a 99% chance of beating Purdue WBB tomorrow night.
My confidence level in our teams is such that i think the odds on our men winning tonight should be the exact opposite of the women's odds in tomorrow night's game. And that might overstate my confidence level in our chances of winning tonight's game.
I would LOVE to find I'm dead wrong in my expectations. What a gift that would be. But I just see no signs of that being an actual possibility (okay, CYA, I get it - 1$ chance - okay).
Our women's team is a pro level team. A whole raft of about to be first round draft picks, players with enormous experience, great potential, fully immersed in the team culture and approach, playing with an absolute unicorn as their anchor, who act and think and play as one.
As opposed to a team that just isn't that. A few nice pieces with no anchor at all who seem like nice kids who like one another but the pieces just don't make a whole.
So mixed feelings here - sucking it up to watch tonight pulling for the kids and trying to focus on what they CAN do rather than obsessing over what they cannot. And happy to anticipate another chance to watch the women's team - what a treat that is to watch,
