Everyone seems to believe that Cronin teams play great defense and mediocre offense. In fact, in his 7 seasons at UCLA, 4 of his teams ranked higher in offensive efficiency than defensive efficiency at KenPom.
Cronin has had one exceptional defense. In 2021 we were #2. Two other Cronin teams were Top 20 in defense.
He has had two Top 20 teams in offense.
Basically Cronin has had good offenses in some years and good defenses in other years. Only twice have both the offense and defense been good, in 2022 and 2023.
