I don't think our talent deficit is as large as some are arguing (though I agree with DrBruin that losing Mara's post presence and rebounding was a blow to the team's potential ceiling). We have also had to manage Dailey and Bilodeau's injuries. Also, no player is perfect - it requires the team to play together in order to complement each other and minimize their individual weaknesses.
The main issue, which klkl correctly noted, is the team's attitude. They are minimizing lower ranked opponents and aren't playing together because they think they can individually win games.
Starting Perry may significantly help the team in this respect. Despite his mistakes, he doesn't lack effort or overlook an opponent, and while he is not yet "elite", he's played fairly clean, fundamental basketball. The team looked better with him out on the floor against Cal as opposed to Dent.
Dent, OTOH, doesn't appear "bought in". However, because he is the PG and a highly rated prospect, he gets perceived as the leader of the team, which influences the team around him. His dismissal of Cronin's criticism in previous W's was a huge red flag. I'm not sure if this is partly because he joined the team late, too much ego from $$$ from NIL, is focused on pursuing the NBA, etc. However, his injury may allow Perry to emerge and for the rest of the team's character to take shape.
IMO, this team needs an opportunity to gel through fire, and it may take more L's to get there. They need to go through real hardship to learn what it takes to win together.
