Sure, I think it’s fair to say that most of what’s discussed on this board is ultimately conjecture. We all rely on sources we personally find credible when forming opinions. I get your hesitation—I also cringe when some posters treat speculation as fact. Honestly, even if Aday Mara himself came on here to clarify something, some people would still take a reporter’s version over his.
That said, I’d encourage you to read the article—it seems pretty credible to me. The podcast where the author explains how he gathered his information is also worth a listen, though I get that this may not feel that serious.
At the end of the day, I agree—we don’t know exactly how much UCLA has available in NIL resources. And truthfully, even if we did, it could all change next year. The program might be in great shape now, but all it takes is for a few key donors to pull back, and the picture looks totally different. This is the world we live in.
