I don't buy it and could not care less. Cronin isn't a guy who coddles players and I like that. He won't make promises he can't keep and he is a straight shooter.
Do we all remember how bad Mara struggled last year? Cronin deserves a lot of credit for Mara's improvement. It isn't clear to me that Mara was the best player the entire season. He improved over the course of the season and earned playing time as a result of that.
How much NLI money did he get at Michigan versus at UCLA? Why did he back out of the agreement he made with Mick and UCLA? It sounds to me that someone got in his ear with promises of more usage and money. It's his right to pursue other opportunities, but I put this down more to other factors than blaming Mick.
