that after going undefeated their first two seasons and with basically everyone back, the 1973-74 team started tuning out Coach Wooden. They likely figured they could win any game without even trying too hard. I donít think it was a case of the coach loosening the reins so much as just losing control of the team. I am pretty sure that experience contributed heavily to Woodenís decision to retire after the next season, when he amazingly won a championship with a far less talented team led by Dave Meyers.
