I wrote, "to players being out." That includes the three suspended for the entire season. Given an 8-man roster, which included Olesinski and Goloman; a 17-year old freshman; Ali, whose injury (yes, injury) has cost him his lateral mobility, I think he did a pretty good job in terms of keeping viable lineups on the floor. Also, Welsh was playing several weeks with some facial accessory to protect him. In his second year, Looney was playing with a hampering facemask for the last few weeks of the regular season, and the conference tourney, when Looney said afterward that he had difficulty seeing well. In his first season, he had to suspend Anderson and Adams vs. Oregon, and drastically revamp his lineup, and the team rallied and took UO to two overtimes. In the fourth season, Leaf sprained his ankle, and was pretty clearly no more than about 70% after that, was noticeably slowed. And Ball popped a hamstring, according to his father, in the Kentucky game. Those are the ones I can think of, hardly minor matters.
As to the rest of what you wrote, you obviously did not like Alford's comments, while I thought nothing of them, since he is trying to put the best face on things, and encourage the team to believe that they can adapt pretty well. You might want to wait until he puts the remaining players in all the wrong positions, before criticizing the season.
