People post as if the AD is hanging on their every word. "The bar for him to retain his job is ...." Just like everyone else on this board, I have no clue what would be the criteria for Alford keeping his job or losing it.
Basically Alford's fate is in the hands of a very small group of big donors. DG needs to keep them happy, not us.
As I have posted many times, I hope that if DG decided to replace Alford, he would have a better idea of who the replacement is going to be than he has had in the past.
As for "excuses", as a couple of others noted, the three players lost are not players anyone saw as being major contributors this season (although Shareef might have surprised some people.) The roster should be just fine.
This is different from last season, where we had no where near the depth of this team.
The season still comes down to talent vs youth. There is so little experienced talent. Even "veterans" like Hands and Wilkes aren't that experienced. That where the loss of Olesinski may be felt the most. It would have been nice to have another upperclassman along with Ali, particularly at the beginning of the season as we bring the young kids along.
