We know we're getting close when the excuse machine starts revving up.
Two of the players we lost were unproven freshmen. No way of knowing how much they would have contributed. News of the other being lost for a few months was recently greeted with a collective yawn.
Bottom line: 90% of the coaches in the country would trade their rosters for ours. We still have EIGHT 4 or 5 star recruits healthy. Depth only matters for the top eight or nine anyway. Few teams have a rotation with more than that. Alford's best UCLA team went about six deep.
Last year, of USC's top three players, one was lost before the season started and another was never at full strength due to injuries. Where did they finish in the Pac-12? We've benefited in the past for other school's misfortunes. Every team has injuries. It's all part of coaching. No excuses.
