However few among the potential NBA players these changes will or won't affect, the thing that's always stopped me on this subject is the part about 4,100 players (each year!) for whom none of this matters. People are going nuts about college athletics when the overwhelming majority of participants aren't affected at all because, for them, it's just a part of the college experience and nothing more. On a broader subject, you add football or even soccer or baseball to the mix and require participants be paid and all you succeed in doing is pricing most colleges out of the marketplace entirely. It's a good article - and these changes are fine (especially the one dumping NCAA investigations in favor of using the results of real investigations by real investigators where such are available so maybe some of these cheating schools actually wind up paying a significant price for their transgressions) - but were they to go to a rule similar to that which covers baseball or football , i think you'd clear up a lot more of the actual problems. (though of course the NBA isn't the NFLor MLB...) Thanks, mh
