I suppose if you had been watching the NBA for only the last 4 years one might agree with your take. But for those who have been watching longer, the Lakers are simply sticking with the model every team used to success before GS.
Before GS it would have been ridiculous to think you could win a championship with a bunch of skinny's bombing 3's all day. Before GS the playoffs was where the game slowed down, got more physical, etc. So before GS the key to winning a playoff series was to play physical defense, have a big time force on the low block (which is where LBJ is heading they say), and have a few shooters to keep em honest.
So Magic is just doing what he knows, what he experienced, what the NBA has been like for 90% of its history. If you have tough, physical players that can switch everything on defense, I donít put it beyond the realm of possibility that you can get up into the skinny's grill, make them put the ball on the floor, and put them off their game. In fact, since that was the winning formula for most of NBA history, I think with the right players there is a decent chance we get back to it.
