The strong relationship between 3-point percentage and wins does not hold up every year. Of course they will be correlated, but in the previous season, it wasn't nearly as high. Three teams that were well above average had losing seasons and two others had only 42 wins. Six teams were .500 or better with well below average 3-point shooting.
