had a chance to sit and chat with Wilt Chamberlain couple times. i guess you could say he was arrogant but i didn't think of it that way. What he was was completely and entirely sure of himself. What he expressed opinions about, he was absolutely sure of - period. And he said what he thought. We were talking basketball of course (he was Keith Erickson's beach volleyball partner and that got the conversation started). i liked him. He didn't talk down to anyone, just was 100% confident in himself.
i just think that's what it takes mentally to reach the very top. It's like what every shooter says about shooting - you have to believe you're going to make every shot - or you certainly won't. Not something i worry about. Glad Caitlin Clark is "arrogant" - about basketball. i don't plan to seek her advice about whom to vote for for President or how to live my life. i hope she has a great career professionally - lots of people will benefit from that - and that she has the flexibility to accept other opinions on matters on which she is not expert. But in terms of basketball and specifically what is possible in basketball for herself and others, she is just what she has to be to achieve all that she has
