In the mid-70's, Delta State University dominated women's basketball. They won three straight national titles, inclusive of a 51 game win streak. They beat LSU for their final title in '77. The player of the year award (won by Caitlin Clark) is named after their coach, Margeret Wade. She was inducted into the International Women's Sports Hall of Fame in 1992.[7] She was enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1985 and in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 1999.[8][9]
