Dr.Bruin can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe each tile's color is normalized to the overall national shooting % in that particular tile. So UConn's poor performance there would be partly a product of others shooting especially well in the corner and not necessarily a result of shooting worse in the corner in absolute terms.

I remember seeing last year a collection of shot charts for every tournament team, and UConn was one of the most extreme in terms of shooting only 3's and layups while UCLA was among the leaders in mid range volume. I'm not sure that such a strong emphasis on threes works well in college without particularly well-suited personnel, but definitely agree UCLA needs to cut down on low percentage jumpers.
