saw your chart. Just believe there are situations in which the highest percentage to score points is the most important factor.

If shooting a three is the same percentage chance as shooting a two, fine - shoot the three.

If the comparison is between shooting a wide open three it actually might (depending on the shooter) represent a greater chance than let's say a defended attempt at a two. Certainly agree in that case.

But with the clock running down in a close game you have to score on this individual possession. So a projection that is for entire games much less whole seasons is great - for the majority of times during the game or season. But when you must score to have a chance to win the game, then season long charts give you averages but they are measuring a different thing. If you have to score this possession then the comparison is much more direct - not how many points you get if you hit this one shot but how likely you are to hit that shot.

There have been charts also produced that track how effective champion teams are at hitting the midrange shot. Leaning on the three is no doubt the best strategy for having a successful season. But hitting the highest percentage shot is still the best strategy if your goal is not to score the most points but if you have to score SOMETHING this one possession to win the game

We just may disagree and that's fine - appreciate your posts
