Right. The analytics tell you that shooting more 3s yield more layups and dunks. Why? Because there is more space underneath for your bigs and penetrators. In conjunction, when the d reacts to the interior, it results in more open 3s. Just don’t take mid range jumpers.
As I wrote below, Iconn does this beautifully. “love the action UConn runs. The big sets a pick for the guard around the 3 point line in the middle of the floor, the guard scrapes to the hole and the big rim runs. If the big comes over to help on the guard it’s a lob to the rim runner for an dunk and if the big doesn’t help it’s a layup. If the layup isn’t there they have a guy for the corner 3.
