UConn went 3-22 from 3 in its 1st game... still won by 20+. Because they have a GREAT motion game with off ball screens that get them lots of layups and dunks. 22 3s in a game is a small number these days. They realized that the 3 part of their game was off, so they adapted on the fly.
That is the kind of team I want to have. The tip of the spear is a great motion offense to get inside points and draw fouls. (This is kinda like being able to run the ball in cfb.) And then the 3 game is the dessert.
