There is no parity in the women's game. Big blowouts are typical in the first round. This year there were:
7 wins by 20-29
2 wins by 30-39
2 wins by 40-49
1 win by 50-59
This was actually a low number. Last year there were eight by 20-29 and eight by 30+.
How can one take the tournament seriously if 1st and 2nd round games are played on home courts?
In the entire history of the tournament, only one #14-16 seed has ever won a game (#16 Harvard over #1 Stanford). A #1 seed has won the tournament 31 times, a #2 seven times and a #3 ten times. No lower seed has won it. (24% of men's champions were seeded #3 or lower.)
