I don't think we really disagree. We are just looking at it from two different angles. You say the officiating is different in the two conferences because the style of play is different in the two conferences. I would claim that if the style of play was the same in the Pac-12 they would be calling fouls the same way as they do in the Big 10.
There are so many complaints here about "Pac-12 refs". It's always about calling too many ticky tack files. It's not the refs, it's the style of play. Go to a Big10 message board and you'll see a lot of complaints about not calling fouls they should have called that weren't.
Officiating is difficult. I'm sure you know that. They always get blamed when the game isn't going well for one's team.
