I've mentioned before that I only rarely do a fully filled out bracket for the entire NCAA Tournament. Instead, I prefer to do round-by-round predictions. Whichever type you do, we at least have the 1st Round match-ups (Thursday-Friday) in common. (I printed out a bracket sheet too late to predict the 4 play-in games, so I'm not counting them.)
I did pretty well in the 1st Round:
Predictions I got right:
East
1 Uconn over 16 Stetson
5 San Diego St. over 12 UAB
6 BYU over 11 Duquesne
3 Illinois over 14 Morehead St.
7 Washington St. over 10 Drake
2 Iowa St. over 15 South Dakota St.
West
1 North Carocheata over 16 Wagner
9 Michigan State over 8 Mississippi St. (mild upset)
12 Grand Canyon over 5 Saint Mary's (upset)
4 Alabama over 13 Charleston
3 Baylor over 14 Colgate
7 Dayton over 10 Nevada
2 Arizona over 15 Long Beach St.
South
1 Houston over 16 Longwood
12 James Madison over 5 Wisconsin (upset)
4 Puke over 13 Vermont
10 Colorado over 7 Florida (upset)
2 Marquette over 15 Western Kentucky
Midwest
1 Purdue over 16 Grambling St.
8 Utah St. over 9 TCU
5 Gonzaga over 12 McNeese
4 Kansas over 13 Samford
11 Oregon over 6 South Carolina (upset)
3 Creighton over 14 Akron
2 Tennessee over 15 Saint Peters
Predictions I got wrong:
East
That 8 Florida Atlantic would beat 9 Northwestern (result: mild upset)
That 4 Auburn would beat 13 Yale (result: big upset)
West
That 11 New Mexico would beat 6 Clemson
South
That 8 Nebraska would beat 9 Texas A&M (result: mild upset)
That 6 Texas Tech would beat 11 NC St. (result: upset)
That 3 Kentucky would beat 14 Oakland (result: BIG upset)
Midwest
That 10 Colorado St. would beat 7 Texas
So I went 25-7 in Round 1. I'm pleased with that. :-)
OKay, now it's YOUR turn. How'd you do?
