I agree, the current structure is ridiculous.

With the transient rosters these days, the coach should know who is leaving for the NBA well before the portal closes. The NBA should cooperate with the NCAA on this.

Like with Adem ... in a sensible world, Cronin would know whether or not Adem is leaving for the NBA wayyyyy before the portal closes. I would say he should know before the portal opens.
