Yes, he made the right move.
The stats don't list his 3-point percentage or rebounds.
Most likely, he would have played behind Leaf and Welsh, but ahead of Golomon and Anigbogu.
But it's unlikely he would've gotten all of Golomon and Anigbogu's minutes.
Remember, Alford liked to use Leaf with 4 guards.
So, Bolden at UCLA might've played 20 MPG and only got 10 PPG and 5 RPG. If he had shot less than 25% from 3, he would still be a second round pick at best and maybe not even that unless he impressed in workouts.
I would like to see some extensive footage and also see the rosters of opponents (like, what American players did he go head to head with?) before I myself considered whether he should be a lottery pick or the 40th pick instead.
Some of the Serbian teams he played (I was able to check his team's schedule) have 6-6 PFs who played at Cal State Dominguez, are now 36 years old, and averaged 5 PPG in Serbia this year. Against them, Bolden might well have looked like a lottery pick...
