So easy for a kid first learning about the game to love. Baylor had real star power--just exuded it. West was a completely different player, and his game might not have been as accessible to young kids the way Baylor's was. One of the many great things about West was how he transformed his game from college to the NBA, b/c in college he spent much of his time working the glass--a very fine jumper with perhaps underrated athleticism. But he really worked on his shot and was a formidable guard already by his second year. I think West and Baylor were the best tandem in the NBA. Back in those days, though, you needed someone in the middle higher on the food chain than Darrell Imhoff to win a championship (no disrespect to Imhoff intended).
