I followed Frank's career pretty closely after he left the service. He had already played a season in the NBA before entering the service to serve his reserve time. He had such great hops, he did most of his damage around the hoop when I was a teammate of his. While in the service, he never had what I considered a great jump shot, but it was adequate--unfortunately, not so much in that final attempt.
That championship game brought back some great memories as in addition to Frank, I was able to see Bob Cousy and Red Auerbach in action again. I had the privilege of working several basketball clinics over in Europe (in the mid 50s) with both of them along with Clair Bee who was also a part of the clinic team. Working with and around those guys was the greatest learning experience (in basketball) that I've ever experienced.
