UCLA has a history of poor hires

so many fans tend not to just trust a hire on faith.

In 1988, Kansas was able to get away with hiring Roy Williams (who had never been a head coach before) because of trust due to Dean Smith's prior Kansas connections.

Other schools have more trust because they believe the AD knows what he is doing. If UCLA had a history of correctly picking diamonds in the rough, we would be more trusting.
