i lay all that blame on okc!!!
okc decided long long ago that they were NOT going to spend the money. it started with harden and every year they were searching forr a cheap alternative to a legit third star to compliment kd and rw.
the result is they relied on building thru the draft, and while their draft has been stellar, it NEVER produced another harden or westbrook or kd. AND as a result all that scoring load was laid on westbrook and kd while other teams had 3 or 4 stars.
kd ran away from all that and in one quote said(which i totally agree) "we were getting younger not better".
so okc lost harden and kd and they have only westbrook. westbrook was brought up in the organization to do everything and it is okc's fault for that. and media close to okc has said they were over protective of kd and rw.
rw may be a natural born alpha but okc didn't help any, even when they had kd. kd plays UNBURDENED now while he and westbrook carried the whole load at okc.
so don't make it like it's all on russell. WITHOUT rw, okc was #28 in offensive eff, WITH him they were #14 or 15. okc was also dead last i think in 3pt shooting - DEAD LAST. at okc rw and kd were the only ones taking the last shot, and russell was going to get his like kd was getting his. now, kd doesn't have that worry - he's on a team that won 73 without him and he has no burdens in spite of the fact that he's their mvp
